Greetings Fellow or Aspiring Bloggers.
My name is Roy L Morris.  I am 64 years old, married for 38 years, raised 4 daughters, have 7 grand kids and live in Amarillo, Texas.
I was born in Odessa Texas in 1947.  We moved to Colorado when I was five years old due to the polio scare.

My dad was an oilfiield trucker and went wherever there was work to be found.  We lived in about 6 different towns in Colorado and I graduated high school in 1965 in Grand Junction.

I joined the Air Force a week after graduating and after boot camp I found myself in Ramstein Germany.  My career in the Air Force was as an Air Policeman and I worked in Security for 18 months and then in Law Enforcement.  While in Germany I visted France, Spain, Holland, Denmark, and Austria.
Some of my fondest memories of my time in the service are from taking leave once a year for one month with pay.  I have swam in the Mediterranian Sea, watched a bullfight, experienced steamed coffee in France, visited the Tivoli Gardens in Holland, and skiing in Austria.  While in Austria with a friend in the service, we stayed in a little town above Innsbruck called Hungerburg.  My friend, Jim, looked at the mountain from where we were and said, I'm not going to ski up there.  I assured him that they had beginner slopes cut out in the mountain so it was a ride on a cable car up the mountain.  The price for our five day stay, with a continental breakfast, a sack lunch for the slopes, a full course dinner kept warm in a silver platter over candles was a grand total of......................................$60.00.  Now that was a lot of vacation for very little money.

I received my discharge after three years and ten months.  They were giving what they called, early outs back then and I decided, without much thought, that I would not stay for another tour.
I landed, after a long flight, on the east coast.  I still remember looking out of the planes window and seeing the coast of the eastern USA.  I was glad to be back in American, but didn't know what fate, or choices, awaited me.

I spent time with my mother in Borger Texas, then on to Colorado and visited with my dad.  My dad believed in hard work and it wasn't but an hour or two with him until he had me doing chores.  I had to more or less earn my supper and bed.  He was managing a cattle feedlot at that time.  I worked at a decent wage mending fence, feeding cattle, feeding hogs, milking cows, assorted duties at the feedlot.  I always admired the cowboys, riding their horses through the cattle pens, cutting out sick cattle, doctoring them, branding and all.  I got a chance during one cold winter to be a cowboy on that feedlot and it was quite an experience.  Not as glamorous as it looked from the sidelines, but it was a good job.  I had landed the pen rider job while one older cowboy laid off during the winter.  He came back the next summer and I got a shot at driving an 18 wheeler, hauling cattle, sometimes pigs, and once on a trip to Tennessee a load of trees.  It was another experience I will never forget.

I left the feedlot.  I did some hitch hiking around Colorado, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona.  Arizona, that's where my life went sour.  It was the late sixties and I experimented with drugs.  I had smoke some weed a couple times in my last year with the Air Force, but in 1969 and early in the 70s' I did a lot of drugs.  Weed, hash, uppers, downers, LSD, mescaline, and shooting up morphine and amphetamines.
Finally one morning I got up after a late night of getting high and walked into the bathroom, looked at myself in the mirror, and had a revelation.  The young man in the mirror just didn't look right.  I made a decision then and there to stop the uppers, downers, the mainlining and straighten up a bit.  About a week later I made the decision to leave my druggie friends and go to visit with my mom again.  I hitchhiked my way to Borger Texas and landed a job in the oilfield and stayed there until about 1972.  I returned to Colorado and asked my dad if I could stay with him for awhile.  He said yes, and once again it wasn't but a couple of hours before he had me paying my way.  He was managing a motel at that time and gave me a room and told me to find work, also he had me painting rooms and pulling weeds.  I left there with a group of magazine salespeople headed for San Francisco.  I had it all set up through the G.I. bill to go to DJ school.  I backed out going forward and left the group on a bus headed for Phoenix Arizona.

After my experiences with drugs. I moved back to my mother in Borger, met my wife, and awhile later, a lot of hard knocks and time spent in the V.A. hospital undergoing treatment for schizophrenia and paranoia.  I was having a hard time holding onto jobs.  I take medication for a number of things and can cope with socializing but I continued to struggled from one job to another until about age 55.  It was then that I found I could no longer handle stress very well and had trouble writing reports as a Security Officer.  My mother was under hospice care and I couldn't hold a job.  On the advise of a couple of my mothers nurses and my family I contacted a V.A. counselor, he put my medical information in the computer, and a month later I was receiving a V.A. pension based on my disabilities, age, and lack of education.  I am doing well with the mental difficulties, they were never very severe.

I had my first experience on the web with a Commodore 64.  I very rich friend and I were playing chess over the net at a site called, It's Your Turn, where you played one move at a time and corresponded for each next move by email.  He asked me if I would like to have a computer.  I said of course.  He sent it, I've been working at affiliate marketing for quite a few years and never got much from it except tired and disappointed.

I've gotten to know a man whom I consider my mentor and have spent the last year reading, studying, and masterminding with others who are interested in network marketing.  My friends name is Chuck Bartok and he has been in networking since he was in his twenties.  Yes, networking has been around a long time even before computers.  People of like mind interacting and marketing.   Chuck has some very good sites to visit and learn from.  He has a lot of free resources, good informational blogs, a hosting service, free ebooks, and has podcasts about marketing and success in all aspects of life.  LIFES HARD LESSONS
I've just learned a very hard lesson.  I want you to please understand that although I am 65 years old and think that I know quite a bit about internet marketing and not falling for scams and opportunities that promise the moon, I fell for one today.  I didn't listen to the man that I consider my mentor, my mastermind group, and I didn't do diligent research, I just jumped at a chance of what I thought was a way to quick riches.  Due to the kindness and understanding of someone I really do respect I was able to find out the truth behind what I thought was the RIGHT opportunity.  It wasn't what it is all hyped up to be and I have cancelled my account with them.  I will not be promoting their opportunity in my blog.
I'm just saying, no matter what you think you know, if you haven't prepared your mind with the right business mindset you will not succeed in pursuing and accomplishing your goals.  Prepare your soil before you start planting your seed.  Talk to people who have been there and done that.  Read and listen to tried and proven books, videos, podcasts from people who really care..You will know them by their fruits.
I am trying to give sound advice and have included links in my blog that can help you on your path to success.

With that being said..On we go.

You need to write down your Why for what you intend to do.
There is something unique in what happens when you put pen or pencil to paper.  It is the interaction of mind, body, and activity that will impress upon your mind the thoughts, ideas, and concepts of what it is that you are attempting to do.  No matter what your goals are, write them down.  I've gotten this advise from several successful people.  You are the product of your thoughts.   The WHY comes before the HOW.  Write down why you want more money, success, self improvement, etc...
Make a list of  Why you intend blog.  Promote, market, research, spend your time, energy and money to accomplish your goal.   Write down your desires, something like...A new car, a new home, vacations, leaving an inheritance, giving to charities etc...  Write a short business plan with definite goals within it, not vague wishes.   It could go something like this...I will have in my possession $2000.00 by Aug. 30, 2012.   I will accomplish this by creating a blog with content about myself, blogging,  affiliations,  free offers,  internet marketing strategies,  products,  and self improvement.   I will research other blogs, articles and books and glean material from them to use in my blog.   I will spend at least one hour daily improving on my blog.  I will tell my friends and others what I am doing.  I will advertise in social media, free advertising and paid advertising, and will update my blog daily or every two or three days.   Then read your plan upon rising in the morning and before going to bed.

Have a single purpose in mind.   Concentrate on that purpose.   Your desire will more likely turn into a success if you, make a decision, make a plan, take immediate action, be consistent and persevere in your endeavor.   You are the product of your thoughts.   Think positive, drive out thoughts that are in the negative.   This holds true in all aspects of life.  Whether it be for wealth, power, prestige, respect, spiritual understanding, and other aspects of life.

You need to feed your mind with Right Thought.
You would serve yourself well by listening to and reading about people who have had some success in life.   Personally I listen to pod-casts, hosted by Chuck Bartok, a successful man whom I've known for many years and interact with a mastermind group of people who are interested in things that I am interested in.   I have been reading Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, Abundant Thinking by Chuck Bartok, The Miracle of Right Thought by Orison Marden, and intend to continue reading and learning from these and many more great authors.   I read other peoples blogs, articles, and allow my new gained knowledge to permeate my thoughts and lead me to action.

Chuck Bartok, a man who has been networking without and with the aid of computers since he was 20 years old,  hosts pod-casts through the week that pertain to internet marketing and self improvement.   He has a well established presence on the web. You can join with his mastermind group on Tuesdays at 11:30 A.M. EDT and Wednesdays at 9:30 EDT at these next two links...Click Here for Tues., Click Here for Wed.  Lori Pollina and I also have a podcast at 11:00 A.M EDT every Friday.  We are discussing Orison Swett Mardens great book, The Miracle of Right Thought.  Click Here.

Now Some Blogging Tips
Blogging is a concept that started in late 90s.   As it moves forward, online advertising has tapped into the blog’s potential.   Here are 5 reasons why you should use blogging as an Internet marketing tool.

1. Blogging is simple.
If you can type, have a story or idea to put forth, and a desire to succeed in blogging, you can create a blog.

2. Blogging is authentic.
You can start your blog, as I did, with a short statement about yourself, your family, perhaps something about where you live and so forth.   As you continue to blog you will become proficient in writing and will be able to add content on a daily or weekly schedule.

3. Blogging is free or low cost.
You can find free blogging sites or decide to invest a bit in a blog hosting site and receive resources, tools, support and other benefits in a blogging package.   Blog pages can generate more income for your seriously growing business.

4. Blogging builds credibility.
As you continue to blog you are letting people get to know you and you will benefit from return visitors who need your information.   As your readership grows other blog sites will link to yours which gives you more credibility and expands your visitor and customer base.

5. Blogging builds your market.
You can use the following methods to increase your market base.
-Use your e-mail.   By sending a short request for your e-mail friends and others to visit your blog there is the potential to grow your base.   Also by having a contact form on your blog and offering a free bonus for signing up to your blog or newsletter, you can build a list of subscribers and contact them with new information or products they may like.

-Have a comment box at your blog and ask visitors to leave their comments.   You can develop relationships and get to know your visitors needs and wants.

-You can join a blog network.   You will have your blog linked to other blogs and build credibility and trust through the efforts of other bloggers.

-Use RSS.   Your readers will find this of great interest and helpfulness to their needs.
Get your internet marketing off and running by creating an interesting and helpful blog site.

MORE on Blogging:

Everyone has something that they want to say, and most wish that their personal take on a topic could be shared with the world.

Having a blog is like having another job. You need to be aware of this before you start writing. Making your blog successful will require a lot of work. Simply writing a few rants that you update once a month isn't going to make you famous. There are several things that you need to understand before you begin blogging.

1. You need to have a good idea for your blog.  The topic can be anything of interest to you and your readers.  This topic is what you do; it is what you are an expert at. If your site is about gardening,  you shouldn't talk about woodcarving. You need to decide on a single topic and stick to it.

2. Your topic needs needs to be something you can find information about and expand.  At the same time, your topic needs to be narrow in scope.  Achieving this balance can be difficult, and takes a bit of thought and planning before you begin write.

3. You should understand that your site needs to be updated regularly. People aren't going to return to your site to read the same thing repeatedly. In order to keep your audience interested and secure new audience members, you need to make frequent blog updates. A good blog should be busy, with at least two updates a week if not more.

Well, let me say this about that.  I loved it when Ronald Reagan would say that.
Before I refuse to take your questions, I have an opening statement.
Ronald Reagan

Quite a bit has been going on since I last posted about myself.   I've been busy doing some reading and studying.  For starters, I am reading Orison Mardens great book entitled, The Miracle of Right Thought.  Myself and Lori Pollina are doing a podcast every friday morning at 11:00 EDT at talk shoe.. http://www.talkshoe.com/tc/26361

I am also reading Napoleon Hills book..15 Laws of Success.  I got it from AmazonKindle ebooks for only $1.99, it's a very good book for that price, a real bargain.  It contains a course that you can take and will help anyone in any aspect of life.
The other book I am reading and suggest is Gary Zukavs book, The Dancing Wu Li Masters.  It is a book on quantum physics.  Don't be scared, it's an easy read and quite informative and entertaining.
Physics = Wu Li
Wu Li = Patterns of organic energy
Wu Li = My way
Wu Li = Non sense
Wu Li = I clutch my ideas
Wu Li = Enlightenment

Remember that, we are the product of our thoughts.  Thoughts are powerful and full of life.  How we are perceived by others, how we live our life, how we do all that we do, and how we create our world are the products, first of the thought.
